By starting his own label, Essential Records, Robert Beeson gained firsthand insight into all the different tasks and jobs involved in making an artist successful. Be it the initial discovery of an artist, or the creative development of the artist’s brand, Beeson has obtained success working with/developing the top names in Christian Music today. Artists that Beeson has personally ‘Executive Produced’ include; Jars of Clay, Third Day, Michael W Smith, (all Grammy award winning / platinum selling artists) as well as Caedmons Call, FFH, Bebo Norman, Joy Williams and most recently signing Grammy nominated group Leeland and serving as A&R for Casting Crowns. Beeson is also responsible for the creation and development of the largest original concept series in Christian Music History - City on a Hill - selling over 750 000 copies. In the last decade Robert has seen 6 of his new artist signings be nominated for Grammies on their debut releases and 5 out of 6 of those artists have sold over 100,000 units during their first year of release.
Robert left his post as Senior Vice President of A&R for Provident/SonyBMG where he oversaw the signing and development of all artists on all of the labels under the Provident umbrella. He left because of a simple belief; the larger corporations are unable to focus their attention on true artist development. In 2006 Robert formed The Kindred Group, an artist development company that encompasses a recording label, publishing company, management and event promotion. The goal is to partner with artists who are driven to excellence and committed to making an impact. Kindred has already signed a few artists, completed 2 masters and secured distribution. FFH is one of Kindred’s new artists, with a Worship album released on October 30, 2007 and distributed by WORD.
